Ranger Ridge

December 24, 2011

Ridge height:         1938 m
Elevation gain:       265 m
Roundtrip time:      2:35

Hiking with Nina.

Ranger Ridge is simply is small extension of the very popular Fullerton Loop hike, as described in Potter’s Ridgewalks. We brought snowshoes, but it was quite evident, upon arriving at the trailhead, that they would be of no use – no snow….no shoes!

The trip went without a hitch, though were we to repeat it we would go in a clockwise direction instead the counter clockwise one we took. Views were limited through most of the trip and the Ranger Ridge extension good for a little extra exercise but not any mind-blowing views.

Near the end of the day, Nina proved that all the running she does in her free time has definitely paid off, as a nearby “growl” from the bush suddenly sent her sprinting up the trail towards me at Mach 3. Screaming all the way, she also gave credence to the belief that women can multi-task much better than men!

The trip did actually start with snowy conditions, however it was so hard-packed snowshoes were unnecessary

The best scenery of the day (besides Nina!) was the the interesting clouds and lighting at this point

Same as above

Moose Mountain

The only decent view of the day; Romulus and Remus at the far right

Grain anyone?!
The foursome of Banded Peak, Outlaw, Cornwall, and Glasgow

Nina takes in the view (with her eyes closed)

Nina hikes back to the car; several minutes later she was running back up the trail
