Scrambling with Jodi.

I really should have enjoyed this scramble more. Unfortunately, the miserable, cloudy weather put a damper on things. Redoubt does sport a magnificent view towards Mount Temple and other dazzling 11,000ers of the Lake Louise area, and although the difficult scrambling along the ridge was very enjoyable, I found it to be an inadequate substitute for a potential magnificent summit view, had the sky been cloud-free. Jodi also very much enjoyed the hands-on scrambling and negotiated the terrain effortlessly, once again leading the descent with speed and ease.

Wearing approach shoes for the scramble was a big mistake, given the large amount of scree and rubble slogging. They simply didn’t protect my feet enough, making most of the trip quite uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Definitely another trip that I’d like to repeat on a clear day.

Interesting gaps in the rock next to Ptarmigan Lake; Fossil Mountain to the left

Jodi on the first ridge, with the summit block of Redoubt ahead; the ascent route ascends the right skyline

Jodi scrambles up a steep section of the ridge; Richardson, Pika, and Ptarmigan behind

Not the stunning view of Temple I was hoping for, but interesting nonetheless
