Greg Maddux Gregory Alan Maddux (Mad Dog) was born in Texas and drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1984. He began his career in Chicago but in 1993 moved on to the Atlanta Braves. Though Maddux has never been an overpowering pitcher, he has truly mastered the art of keeping hitters offstride by changing things around and getting that generous outside pitch called a strike. After ten years in Atlanta, Maddux has signed back with the Cubs where he will likely retire.
