Nolan RyanLynn Nolan Ryan Jr. was born in Texas and was drafted in the 12th round of the 1965 entry draft by the New York Mets. Ryan got his first taste of pro-baseball the very next season with the Mets and did not look back for the next 30+ years. He had a long and very successful career with the Mets, Angles, Astros, and Rangers. He was a rare breed - a power pitcher that was able to have a very long career. Till the end, he relied on his blazing fastball to get hitters out. Nolan Ryan was an eight time all-star, the all time leader in career strikeouts with 5,714 and was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1999.
