Sammy SosaSamuel Peralta Sosa was born in the Dominican Republic and was signed as a free agent by the Texas Rangers in 1985. Sosa struggled his first few seasons in the majors and was dealt by the Rangers to the Chicago White Sox and eventually to the Chicago Cubs. His career turned the corner with the Cubs in 1993 and he hasn't looked back since. He is up there in career homeruns and has had some memorable home run crown battles with Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds. Sosa is also the only major leaguer to have ever hit 60+ home runs in 3 different seasons.
