Manx is a tailless cat and their hind legs are
strong and longer than their forelegs. That's how you can most easily
distinguish them from other species although some of them do have a
tail. They have stocky, strong, sturdy body, very strong hind legs
which enables them to jump higher then other cats and are very good
hunters. They have short and thick neck. It is thought that they
originate from the Isle of Man and that's where their name comes from.
They can be either shorthaired or longhaired. Longhaired Manx cats are
also called Cymric and require regular brushing but still not as much
as Persian cats, for example. They are playful, friendly, clever and
very loyal cats. Another one of their characteristics is that they have
some kind of dog-like behavior. Most of them are very protective of
their home or area and can get very attached to the people. They feel
most comfortable in house but they can be quite fine outdoors too. |
