    Alliance Hospital Jobsite
    Storing Jacks Onsite

    1/22/05 wlr

Construction sites can often be a problem for having our materials delivered and stored safely as most know. Storing jack assemblies in the hole on site is one of the topics discussed at the June 2004 IUEC National/Regional Meeting.

When the use of onsite cranes, drilling rigs or such means are agreed to be allowed to unload jack assemblies or other heavy type materials that are shipped for onsite storage, the Company is required by contract to give prior notification to the Local Union Business Representative and an IUEC crew must be there directing this process. Often jack assemblies are sent this way nowadays in various lengths and claimed to be one piece assemblies. Notify the Business Representative when you unload these or when you are sent to a jobsite and find jack assemblies that are already onsite and you did not unload them. When these assemblies are put in the hole, the hole becomes the place used for storage and the following process for begining your installation needs to be followed.

The entire assembly must be rigged and removed from the hole, placed back on the ground, then the normal means of installation can begin. This includes the taking apart of these assemblies.
