About Us

In Search For Truth Magazine is a monthly religious publication that contains teachings from the Bible on many issues. It is our hope and prayer that you have found our publication helpful in your walk with Christ as a Christian. If you are not a Christian, it is our hope and prayer that the studies presented here has helped you to become a Christian.

If there is anything that were are teaching that you believe to be in error, feel free to contact us and we will study it with you. If it is error, we will publish an apology and retraction.

What Is Truth?

Jesus, in John 8:32, said, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." In this passage, truth refers to the word of God, because in John 17:7, Christ said, “Sanctify them through Thy truth; Thy word is truth." It is important that we not only believe that God's word, the Bible, is truth, but also believe that it contains all that we need in order to be saved from our sins and live in such a way that we will someday enter heaven.

How Is Truth Determined?

Truth is determined by studying the word of God and accepting what it teaches on any issue. Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” In a later issue, we will learn how to study the word of God properly. Let us study some areas in which truth cannot be determined.

Word Studies

Word Study: Sin

The word for this study is sin. The definition of sin is a transgression of God's word. Whenever we sin, we violate God's authority, as we shall study in a later issue. John says that “whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law,” (1 John 3:4). Paul further states, for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23).

Word Study: Baptism

The word for this study is baptism. It is derived from the Greek word baptizo which means "to immerse." Denominational churches are divided on the meaning and practice of baptism. God's word, however, is clear and plain in its teaching on the subject. Baptism is something we do. It is not what some would call a "faith response" or "an outward showing of an inward grace." These are nowhere taught in the word of God.

Issues Affecting the Church

Church Benevolence

Since the 1950s, the swelling tide of liberalism has caused many churches of Christ to lose the ability to distinguish between individual and church benevolence. Today, many can be heard saying, "The church can do anything that the individual can do." There are those who have embraced institutionalism, the sponsoring church concept, and other unscriptural methods of benevolence. What does the word of God teach concerning individual and church benevolence?

Can We Be Right In All Doctrine?

There is a doctrine espoused by many which teaches that no church can be right on all matters of biblical teaching. In other words, absolute truth in doctrine is non-existent. Those who teach this view will acknowledge the existence of doctrinal errors, such as the false doctrine of infant baptism, but will often say that God's grace will cleanse those who teach error on the day of judgment. Can we, therefore, be right on some matters of doctrine while teaching error on others and expect to enter heaven?

We have just implemented a new message board and online Bible class using a different server. We have checked this site out carefully and found that so far there are no objectionable ads. If it comes to our attention that there are, we will discontinue this portion of this website and search for another server once again. However, we do plan to upgrade the service to have no ads.
