Three cheers for the sky sports coverage of the test cricket. Until this year I had no idea what had happened when the ball crossed the rope, but now Sky have solved this mystery by flashing up the number “4” each time this curious event happens. Thanks for this great help. G. Boycoot, Yorks.
Thanks again to sky for un-ravelling the mysteries of cricket. Their decision to flash the word “wicket” after a batsman is dismissed has cleared up a great mystery for me, as I have always wondered why the batsman left the crease occasionally and did not return. S Patel, Worcs
What a delight the new coverage of test cricket on Sky has been. “Willow” and “Stumpy” explained a tremendous amount to me during the first test against Sri Lanka that I would otherwise never have known, in particular the difference between “in-swing” and “out-swing”, which I have never really understood. J Craig
Until those loveable cartoon characters “Stumpy” and “Willow” explained that a follow through was something to do with bowling I had always thought that the commentators were referring to a fart gone wrong. Thanks to them I have avoided a potentially embarrassing error should I ever go to a real match. T Anderson
Special thanks to Sky for having the common sense to put a caption beside that little box with men running in it that occasionally appears on screen during the cricket. By calling it “run box” I now understand that this is the batsmen running between wickets. I had previously thought this box contained highlights of “It’s a Knockout” from the 70’s. Pat Twococks, Surrey
I would like to complain about those freakishly stupid and boring plastic figures that have been on Sky this summer trying to explain the cricket. They are two of the dullest and most annoying characters I have ever seen, and their weird plastic appearance and monotone voices has put me clean off cricket. Unless Sky removes Bob Willis and Aravinda De Silva I am going to cancel my subscription forthwith. B Piles, Brentford.
Does anybody know if Stumpy and Willow will ever have their own series? I think they are ace. Perhaps they could explain global warming or the situation in the Middle East, if only they were given their own current affairs show. Failing that, they could take stints in the commentary box instead of say Mike Atherton, who occasionally uses words of more than three syllables, causing me considerable distress in the process. Come on Atherton, get with the times and curtail your wordiness. Prince Bill.
