DBM De Bellis Multitudinis

Pictures of some of my Miniatures

Here are some scanned images of some of my miniatures, well they used to be mine I've sold them all and painted up new ones. One day I'll put up pics of the new ones, probably about when I'm looking at selling them. How did I do them? you ask, I just laid them out on a flatbed scanner, propped up at the front slightly by a CD case.

Bear in mind that these are only samples, a full 400 point DBM army will include hundreds of figures like these. To get a perspective on the size the miniatures in the pics are 15mm tall.

Libyan Egyptian, about 800 B.C.

Libyan Egyptian is a reliable, fun, army. The chariots are Cv(S) which is very manoeuvrable and difficult to beat, the Sea Peoples are Wb(F) which can be very powerful, but is usually pretty brittle. The Libyans are Ps(I), a very cheap filler troop type.

The Shardana and Egyptian Royal Guards
These are the Shardana and Egyptian Royal Guards. Those with the red hats are BS114, those with the bronze helmets are BS111, and those on the far left are ANK5.

Sea Peoples
These are Sea Peoples. They are a Mixture of Essex BS111 to BS118.

Egyptian Chariots
These are Egyptian Chariots, in the lead chariot is of course the infamous Brucenkhamen III! They are ANK1 and ANK3.

Later Swiss, about 1470 A.D.

The Later Swiss is a challenge to use (sometimes frustrating), and a challenge to fight against, few armies can take them on frontally, but they lack to speed to close on a reluctant enemy.

Swiss Pikemen
These are Swiss Pikemen. They are from Essex range MER40 to MER 43.

Lorrainer Knights
These are Lorrainer Knights. They are a mixture of Essex MER 6 to 12, and MER 49 to 52.

Swiss Crossbowmen
These are Swiss skirmishers armed with Crossbows. They are Essex MER 44 to 47.

Medieval French, about 1360 A.D.

Medieval French combines the shock effect of Kn(S) which can dismount, with lots of cheap hordes as filler. Requires no intelligence to use, this army runs itself, battles can be over pretty quickly one way or the other.

French Knights
These are French Knights. They are Essex MER1 to MER5 and MID17 and MID13.

French Brigans
These are French Brigans. They are Essex MID 75 and MID 96.

French Peasants
These are French Peasants. They are all sorts of figures, too many to list, the knight with the crossbow riding an Ox is a conversion, he's my Jacquarie General.

Abbasid Arab, about 725 A.D.

With 4 Regular Generals and lots of cheap troop types this is an interesting manoeuvre army. It doesn't have a great deal of punch but if you are clever you can use your superior command and control, and numbers, to outsmart your enemy.

Arab Spearmen
These are Arab Spearmen. They are Essex CRU5 to CRU8, and AEA10 and AEA11.

Arab Cavalry
These are Arab Cavalry. These are Essex CRU1, CRU2, CRU17, CRU38, CRU39, CRU28, AEA2 to AEA4.

Khorasanian Horse Archers
These are Khorasanian Horse Archers. They are Essex CRU21, AEA5 and AEA6.

Bithynian, about 300 B.C.

This army is great in cluttered terrain, but a nightmare on open ground. It has good command and control making it better than most auxilia armies.

Bithynian Peltasts
These are Bithynian Peltasts. They are a mixture of MPA4, MPA5, MPA20, MPA29, MPA70, MPA95, and MPA96.

Bithynian Galley
This is a Bithynian Galley. It wasn't produced by Essex, it was scratch built by me! I used Fimo, steel wire, cardboard, and noodles!
