DX BULLETIN XE1BEF   304 -  11-nov-08

A5100A NEWS - Thimphu,  Nov 11th, 0300 UTC - Hi all - A very difficult night in SSB on 40 and 80m. Gerard and Vincent have broken their voices all night long for an average of 10 QSO an hour. At the sunrise, nothing on 160m, a good openning on 40m/CW until the signals were lost in the noise often up s9+. To those who ask us "why are you so weak" ... It’s necessary to stay here in the Himalaya to understand. The valleys configuration offers no free horizon. The band noise is quite permanent at a high level. Unfortunately the propagation is not with us too. The Buhtan is not a beach where the antennas can be erected “ foots in the water”, separated one from the others with a good distance and without any obstacle 360 deg around. It’s frustrating for you, but know that’s even more for us. If we want the Buhtan on the bands, we have to accept these difficult conditions. Amitiés de toute l'équipe. Thanks Jean Michel F6AJA. (Forwarded with 73 by Maurice, F5NQL).

NASA Begins Hunt for New Meteor Showers - NASA Science News for November 10, 2008 - NASA astronomers have set up a monitoring station to scan the night sky for unknown or unexpected meteor showers--and they're finding more than they bargained for. In only two months of observing, the newly commissioned system has captured a flurry of meteors from an unknown comet and an object from the asteroid belt exploding like 500 lb of TNT. See the movies in today's story. FULL STORY at http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/10nov_sentinel.htm?list1110993

POSSIBLE NEW ONES COMING (SOON). It was reported on the SEDXC Mailing Reflector by Mike, K4PI: "Netherlands Antilles to net new DXCC Entities for 2008 -- Over the past year much discussion has been made about the possibility of new DXCC entities happening once the break-up/disbanding of the Netherlands Antilles takes effect on December 15th, 2008. This past week, the President of European DX Foundation (EUDXF), Hans, PB2T, who visited ARRL HQ in July and had a discussion about the DXCC status of Netherlands Antilles, feels that after December 15th, 2008, it looks like four new entities will be added to the DXCC list in the future (Curacao, Sint Maarten, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Bonaire)."
