ATTENTION: During the first 4 years of this "DX Bulletin XE1BEF" I never requested them contribution of any type. However, now that unemployed am and that it is no longer so easy to be able to get employment when you arrives up of the fifty years, I cannot sustain the costs of the internet service and the payment of the lodging of the page. It is for that reason that now yes, their contributions are very valuable, still when it is of a dollar. And a dollar only requested all the subscribers, but he only responded immediately René KR6DF - with 5 dollars - and HP1AC with 1 dollar. We wait your contribution. Sincerely. XE1BEF.

ACTIVE ISLANDS, NOW:

SOAY ISLAND (EU008) - Finally, Alex GM0DHZ and myself can announce our much delayed/postponed departure.... We leave home QTHs tomorrow, Sunday 30th, and hope to be on the island of  SKYE (EU-008/SCOTIA CN14) late afternoon/early evening. We will use this as our base for activating  some of  the neighbouring islands. During our stay (30 July to 8 August), we intend to attempt the following:

IOTA EU-008   SOAY island   SCOTIA CN16

IOTA EU-008   WIAY island    SCOTIA CN21

IOTA EU-008   FLODIGARRY island   SCOTIA DI29

IOTA EU-008   S.RONA island   SCOTIA DI27

We cannot give dates or times as all these islands are more or less "exposed", some (such as Wiay and Rona) more so than

others, and require moderate (or better) seas. After  several weeks of good, calm WX, the forecast this morning announced "the first gales in many weeks" (up to Force  7)!! All would be "first time activations" for both of us, so we will be trying very hard to reach  some,  if not all... Bands will be according to propagation, SSB/CW only - we will again try 160m, but bear in mind, this is, as always, an "amateur", very portable operation - no beams, no masts, no linears, no computers (and of course, no sponsorship)...only the TS50s, 3 fishing pole verticals, a tiny generator  and a small tent (any spare space is taken up by water and food (solid, and in a bottle - for medicinal purposes!). Hope to hear many of you...looking out especially for the Americas, VE-land and the Far East (will be listening for you Momsan!)... Good luck! (Vy 73 de André GM3VLB es Alex GM0DHZ).

DX NEWS:

NEW VERSION WSJT - WSJT Version 5.9.5, r236, is now available for free download from http://pulsar.princeton.edu/~joe/K1JT/WSJT595.EXE . The most important change from previous versions is a significant improvement to the JT65 Deep Search decoder resulting in a big reduction in the number of false decodes. The decoder is also faster. Mode JT65C has been enhanced in other ways that make it more effective for 1296 MHz EME. VK7MO (2.3 m dish) tells me that he and VK4AFL (3.7 m dish) used it last night to make an easy QSO using 10 Watts at each end, with the Moon close to apogee. On your first program start-up using version 5.9.5, be sure to enter your correct PTT port number on the Setup | Options page. Under Linux or FreeBSD, enter the appropriate device name, for example /dev/ttyS0. An expanded list of additions, changes, and bug fixes is available at http://pulsar.princeton.edu/~joe/K1JT/UpdateHistory.txt  As always, the WSJT developers will be happy to receive your feedback on this new release. You can send email to me or to wsjt-devel@berlios.de . A new WSJT manual is also in the works. I hope it will be available soon. (73, Joe, K1JT).
